Several organizations teamed up on Thursday to provide free car seat inspections at the Kohl's parking lot in Brownsville.
The Harlingen Police, McAllen Fire Department and the Brownsville Community Health Center were among the organizations helping out in inspecting and advising on how to use a child safety seat. McAllen firefighter Justin Hill stated, "If it's not correctly installed the child could die and it's that simple. We do get people that don't understand it we have to emphasis it more and more but ultimately a child can die and that's why were here to try to avoid that and the statistics show us doing this helps improve it."
Police demonstrated how hot and dangerous it can get if you leave a child alone in a car as temperatures can get around to 120 degrees.
