Crime tape surrounds a home on the 500 block of Michigan street in the small community of Laguna Heights.
Wednesday morning the Cameron County sheriff says a fight broke out between 56 year old Jose Martinez and his son in law 24 year old Lucio Navarro, and it turned deadly.
The sheriff says Navarro used a blunt instrument to hit Martinez in the head. Martinez was later taken to hospital where he died.
Neighbor Cesar Quintero says he spoke with Martinez just on Tuesday.

"My mother in law knew him, he actually gave that Santa Claus to her the night before, it was a gift from him."said Quintero

The Sheriff’s Department says the suspect Lucio Navarro and his wife were living with Martinez at the home on Michigan Street. Investigators are still trying to figure out why the fight ensued.
Authorities say Navarro is an undocumented immigrant, and has a criminal past including family violence and possession of a controlled substance.

Quintero says he is always looking out for his family’s safety. He says just a couple months ago there was another homicide right next to his house.

"Two murders not to separated from each other its quite scary right now, we are not secure anymore, we have to take care of families."said Quintero.

The Cameron County Sheriff's Department has issued an arrest warrant for Navarro. He is wanted for murder. If you have any information call the Sheriff's Department at 956-350-5551.
