La Union Del Pueblo Entero Reacts to Supreme Court Decision
La Union Del Pueblo Entero or L.U.P.E. says it has mixed feelings over the Supreme Court decision on the Arizona immigration law, but say they are glad most of the provisions in the law did not pass. They do have concerns for the Hispanic population in Arizona because of the one provision that did pass giving law enforcement the right to ask for a person's legal status in the country, "So if the whole purpose is to keep us safe, I mean, there is a big part of the society in Arizona that is not going to feel safe, because of the color of our skin." L.U.P.E. says it hopes Texas lawmakers don't get any ideas from Arizona and believe a law like this promotes racial profiling.
