La Joya Police Chase Drug Smuggler

Police say the chase started in Leo Avenue and continued on a dirt road as two smugglers tried to make an escape back into Mexico.

Smugglers running away from police after getting stopped for a traffic violation over the weekend. The chase taking police through tough terrain and straight to the Rio Grande river. Police say a team of 10 to 15 people were ready to save their eight bundles of marijuana from getting seized at the shore. The duo escaping back to Mexico along with it's drugs. They left behind the van and it's in police custody right now. Police believe that can identify one of the smugglers because he is a known smuggler in the area.
