Kids Choir Stuck
Winter weather strands British children's choir in Washington.
A student choir from England is spending a few extras days in Washington, DC because of harsh winter weather at home.
The choir from Jesus College at the University of Cambridge came to the United States from the United Kingdom for a two week singing tour.
That tour is over but they haven't been able to get back home.
Their Sunday flight was canceled.
"At first there was a little wobble when they though they might not see their Christmas presents, but now they can see that it's just an extended holiday," said choir director Mark Williams.
The singers are among the many thousands of travelers from around the world who are stuck.
Snow and ice shut down Britain's Heathrow Airport Saturday.
The delays and cancellations have snowballed.
For the choir members, there's going to be a white Christmas at home and they hope they don't miss it.
"With a bit of luck they will be home for Christmas lunch on Christmas Day," Williams say. "So it should all work out very nicely and I'm sure there will be some emotional scenes at Heathrow when their parents get them back five days late."
