Jobs are booming in McAllen, a recent report from the Brookings Institution ranks Texas as the leader in the U.S. when it comes to job creation and here locally McAllen was among the top cities in the state producing new jobs.

Bonnie Gonzalez is CEO of Workforce Solutions in the Rio Grande Valley.   Gonzalez says, "There are some amazing things happening in South Texas specifically in the Rio Grande Valley."

Gonzalez explains that some cities in the valley, including McAllen are a national example for positive job growth. Gonzalez says,  "The McAllen, Edinburg, and Mission markets are continuously ranked as one of the fastest growing in jobs and in people and economically."

Much of the job expansion in the valley, especially McAllen is thanks to it's growth, moreover, certain attributes are making it an ideal place for those seeking work.

Workforce Solutions says that job creation growth in McAllen is thanks to the spike in manufacturing, healthcare, and service industry jobs.

Meanwhile unemployment numbers have dropped in the RGV in contrast to last year around this time.
