Hidalgo county sheriff investigators are hoping a piece of jewelry helps them identify a man found dead on Wednesday morning.

He had on a medallion and the victim is described as a man in his mid-30's, around 5'8" tall and weighing about 210 pounds. Police found his body on Mile 19 road near Elsa around 7:30am and Sheriff Lupe TreviƱo says a thorough search of the body and clothing was done. They found no tattoos, scars or documents that could help identify the man. Investigators also searched a finger printing database, but no matches came back. The man had more than 20 bullet wounds in his head and back which leads the sheriff to believe someone shot the man execution style.
