Jaime Tijerina is commencing his tenure as Judge of the 92nd State District Court of Texas today.

Judge Tijerina was sworn into office by U.S. Federal Judge Ricardo H. Hinojosa at the Hidalgo County Courthouse in Edinburg this afternoon.

Tijerina was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to fill the vacant seat left by former judge Ricardo Rodriguez, who announced his resignation back in August.  The term of appointment is until the end of 2014.

"I'm very proud to be a part of this county and I'll bring the set of values that I learned in the Army and military to be fair and impartial to all the people," said Tijerina.  "And I promise the people of Hidalgo County that they're gonna get a full day's work [from me] every day."

Tijerina is a graduate of McAllen High School and UT Pan America.  He says he is excited to be in the Valley and serve Hidalgo County.
