Island Businesses Booming

"Nice beach, nice water, and a great atmosphere."
"I love South Padre Island, the fish are great, the food is great."

This summer thousands of people are flocking to South Padre Island.

"June through August is our biggest time of the year, our increase has been substantial."

Many people like to get out to the beach and try something new in the summer like Skydiving.

"It was pretty awesome."

Frank Shisler owner of Skydive South Padre Island says summer is their bread and butter for business.

"I would say it's 70% of our business, it’s been great here got another parachute landing."

People also like to grab some drinks and food on the Island.
Clayton's Beach Bar and Grill has been packed this summer. Owner Clayton Brashear says this time of the year he really depends on for his business.

"Summertime sales roughly 70%."
"Summertime is our time when the kids are out of school in Brownsville, McAllen, and Harlingen families come down and spend time at the beach."

Business owners say they hope to keep up their strong numbers throughout the season.
