Hidalgo County Sheriff investigators believe a verbal dispute is the cause of a homicide/suicide incident at Palmview RV park.

On Thursday, October 3rd, deputies were dispatched to the Bentsen Grove RV Park, located south of Palmview, and found the body of Carl Lau, 75, and his wife standing by him in the carport of their residence.

Deputies reported that Lau had been shot once in the head and while interviewing Mrs. Lau deputies heard a gunshot south of the residence.

A search of the area lead to the discovery of the body of Richard D. Durst, 65, who had a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head and a 410 gauge shotgun in his hand.

Witnesses stated that Lau and Durst had a verbal dispute at Lau's residence and Durst had left then returned and shot Lau.

Investigators do not expect to make any arrest or believe any other individuals involved in the case.
