Intoxicated driver injures four people,flees from scene and assaults officer
HARLINGEN, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Harlingen police arrested an intoxicated driver after she fled on foot from the scene of an accident injuring three adults and a 5 year-old child.
On Wednesday, November 20th at approximately 10:15 a.m. police responded to a major accident at the intersection of W. Business 83 & Stuart Place Road involving a red 2010 Jeep Patriot and a red 2002 Ford Focus.
When officers arrived at the scene there were four individuals injured, two adults and a 5 year-old child from the Ford Focus and a male passenger from the Jeep Patriot, all four were taken to the hospital due to their injuries.
Police determined the driver of the Jeep was Angelica Mar Pena, 35, who had fled the scene on foot and was found in an abandoned home.
When officers attempted to detain and handcuff Pena she became combative and kicked one of the arresting officers on the leg several times.
Pena was arrested and charged with intoxication assault with a vehicle and handed a $30,000 bond.
