BROWNSVILLE, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Brownsville Police will be spending a little more time at certain intersections over the next week.
The Intersection Traffic Control initiative will highlight a few corners around Paredes Line Road, Morrison Road, and Carlos Avenue.
An influx of reports of speeding drivers has raised concerns with citizens in the area, especially cyclists and pedestrians.
Melissa Gonzalez, BPD Spokesperson, "It's a lot of factors. You know, you've got a school a couple feet from Morrison and Paredes so you know you're going to have a lot of kids, a lot of pedestrians, a lot of cyclists in that area and definitely when summer comes around, a lot of people are out and about more."
BPD says they get a high volume of calls from pedestrians in the summer months about reckless drivers, and is hoping to avoid any future accidents
