Installation of new wastewater line to cause closure on FM 511
BROWNSVILLE, TX — Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) contractors have announced a temporary closure for a section of FM 511 (Indiana Avenue) beginning Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at approximately 5 a.m. for approximately four months. G&T Paving and JM Construction will close FM 511 from Boca Chica Boulevard to Ruben Torres Boulevard to accommodate the installation of a new wastewater pipeline.
Work will begin on the east side of FM 511. This work will affect all through traffic using FM 511. Local traffic will have access, but heavy traffic will be redirected to Minnesota Avenue. All necessary traffic control devices will be in place prior to the closure of the roadway.
This new wastewater pipeline will run more than 12,000 linear feet, which will include 8,000 linear feet for a gravity sanitary sewer line and 4,700 linear feet for a force main. This installation is part of the ongoing FM 511-802 wastewater improvement project that will provide first-time sewer service to residents in that area. Some of the funding for this project has been provided by the Texas Water Development Board’s Economically Distressed Areas Program (EDAP).
Once construction begins, the duration of the closure will be approximately four months with an estimated end date of Nov. 30. All construction dates are approximate and the end date may vary due to the nature of weather, soil conditions and job provisions.
BPUB, G&T Paving, JM Construction, Texas Department of Transportation and City of Brownsville departments have coordinated on this effort to make it a safe and efficient operation. BPUB apologizes for any inconveniences the closure may cause.
