A suspicious injury to an infant has authorities questioning the baby's mother.

A seven month old baby is being treated for a fractured skull, while the mother is behind bars.

Twenty year old Alexis Garcia turned herself in this morning to Brownsville police after learning authorities were blaming her for that injury.

"In regards to a skull fracture, obviously, you know it's something that the child of that particular age couldn't have done on its own."

Brownsville police were made aware of the injured child after a call by medical staff at Valley regional medical center earlier this month.

The mother brought the infant in to the E-R for seizures.

The extent of the child's injuries required him to be transported to McAllen Rio Grande Regional hospital.

As of now the condition is unknown, however the investigation is far from over.
