It was a busy scene for the Hidalgo County Sheriff Department's CSI unit Monday morning as they were searching for the body of a two-month old infant.

The baby went missing after an SUV crash took place over the weekend and authorities now believe this was alcohol related.
Sheriff Lupe Treviño says, "The call was of a car that actually rolled over several times on seminary road, right at the intersection of 2812. "

The male driver of the SUV. died at the scene, the mother of the baby was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The father of the infant, who police say was also a passenger in the vehicle, was found at his home by police, later during the investigation.

After arriving at the emergency room, the mother asked authorities to see if the father had the infant with him, that is when investigators realized there was a missing passenger, the infant.

Sheriff Lupe Treviño says, "Family members go to the house without letting us know, they find the father asleep, they wake him up, he's fully intoxicated, they wake him up and ask him, where is the baby, he says I have no idea what you are talking about, I don't have the baby. "

While we were on the scene, three men actually saw the body of an infant in the canal and alerted authorities, who began the recovery mission.
An autopsy will be done immediately to confirm the baby's identity.

As for the father, authorities still haven't made any arrests and will continue to question him.

Meanwhile, close to the end of news time late Monday afternoon, KVEO Newscenter 23  confirmed with  DPS that the deceased driver was 21-year-old David Lopez of Edinburg.
