Panama City school security chief describes gun battle with angry hostage taker.

The security guard who helped end Tuesday's shooting rampage inside a Panama City school board meeting talked to reporters Thursday.

A humble Mike Jones went public with thoughts on his role in the tragic turn of events.

"I'm not a hero, folks," Jones told the crowd of reporters and supporters.

After deranged and suicidal 56-year-old ex-con Clay Duke opened fire on board members, Jones burst into the room and opened fire on him.

Jones' bullets hit Duke, but it was a self inflicted shot to the head that killed the gunman.

Jones credits his police training for the successful strategy, but a deep, abiding faith for a successful outcome.

"If nobody believes in God, just watch that video. He had his arms wrapped around all of us," Jones said.

Jones says he looks forward to resuming his regular life, which includes Christmas shopping for some 600 underprivileged children.

Jones' charitable effort is getting a boost from another hero.

School board member Ginger Littleton, who tried to swat the gun out of Duke's hands with her purse
is putting that handbag on eBay and will donate the money it fetches to Jones' Christmas fund for underprivileged children.
