BROWNSVILLE - Nearly three thousand dead sharks have been recovered off of South Padre Island near Boca Chica beach.

Sergeant Robert Dunks, with the Texas Parks and Wildlife , confirms that an illegal gill net had been placed in the water trapping the sharks. The dead sharks and the net were discovered within hours of placement and Sgt. Dunks stated that in his fifteen year career he has never seen this many dead sharks. He said since they know that a Mexican fisherman was responsible there is no need for any further investigation.
