ICE detainee dies at local hospital
HARLINGEN, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — A Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainee, from Honduras, died at Valley Baptist Medical Center after suffering a stroke.
Lelis Rodriguez, 50, was apprehended by Border Patrol agents on July 16th while entering the U.S. near Hidalgo, Texas.
Rodriguez was place into custody with ICE officials on July 22nd and suffered a stroke on July 30th and taken to VBMC where he was diagnosed with a cerebral hemorrhage and died on Wednesday, July 31st.
Since he has no known next of kin in the Untied States, local and state officials have informed consular representatives from Honduras.
