MCALLEN - The Vannie E. Cook Jr. Cancer Clinic in McAllen got a big gift Wednesday that will help their young patients. It came in the form of a check from the Hyundai Hope On Wheels.

Three different Hyundai dealerships across the Valley came together to present much needed money which will help the clinic's Passport for Care program; it's a long-term effects clinic for survivors of pediatric cancer.

In previous years, Hyundai donated $10 thousand. But this year, they increased their donation to $40 thousand.

"We are very, very proud of the fact that they realize that there is a great need here in the Valley for this clinic and for continued research so that we can hopefully and eventually find a cure for this devastating disease," said Laura Martinez-Ilgun, Vannie E. Cook Jr. Cancer Foundation Executive Director.

After the event, the patients got to put their painted hand prints on a Hyundai Santa-Fe. These marks are there to remind everyone about these children's brave battle against cancer.

This is really a generous act for Hyundai. With big sales of their cars like the Santa Fe and parts like the engine, brakes and Hyundai Santa Fe Valves & Guides this is a really small amount of money for the Hyundai.
