Hurricane Issac Sparks Disaster Relief Training in South Padre
It is a feeling that Louisiana residents are familiar with.
Hurricane Issac continued to drench the state on Wednesday. The heavy rains and floods serve as a reminder to Gulf Coast cities about the importance of disaster relief training.
“It is our responsibility to always be ready,” says National Guard Lieutenant Amado Herrera. “We want to ensure that our operations are conducted safely and operate efficiently. That is our goal here.”
On Wednesday, Herrera and about twenty other guardsmen teamed up with South Padre Island emergency management to provide disaster relief training.
“Every year that we carry out these missions we learn different lessons,” says Herrera.
