Human Trafficking Conference Held in McAllen
MCALLEN — Hundreds of people from around the world attended the annual Human Trafficking Conference in McAllen.
This year the conference is focusing on labor trafficking and various people representing a number of organizations were in attendance. South Texas College Associate Professor Jenny Clark said she was hoping to see a larger attendance from the community and students to attend and take part in the discussion, "What this conference hopes to do is it tries to raise an awareness, but it also explains all these myths. So, we can raise awareness and tell the community what human trafficking actually is. The difference between human trafficking and smuggling is somebody has to be coerced."
The conference also promotes the year old human trafficking coalition which focuses on pushing human trafficking cases through the court system faster.
