Two people are critically injured when an Arizona house explodes. William Pitts reports.

(KPNX) Alyce Jenkins saw worse in her 30 years as a nurse, but not much.

"He was just screaming and I just said scream as loud as you want that way I know your lungs are working, just keep screaming," said Jenkins.

She heard the explosion last night - and ran outside.

She and a passing police officer pulled both victims away from the house.

When firefighters got there her nursing training took over.

"I tried to keep her calm I said it's just a house, things can be replaced, you're alive," said Jenkins.

Fire investigators think the two were digging in the backyard where the natural gas lines were.

"Probably nicked or damaged one of those natural gas lines and that gas leaked filling up the area and then something possibly caused a spark and then led to this explosion," said Amanda Jacinto of Peoria Police and Fire.
