Two injured when horse bucks rider and dashes along parade route.

A horse got loose and ran into the crowd at the Elite News Martin Luther King Jr. Parade in Dallas, Texas on Monday.

Dallas police said the horse got away from its owner on a side street just before 11:30 a.m. and eventually ran the wrong way down the parade route.

Officers then coralled and tied it to a fence while the parade went by.

Despite the crowd running to get out of the horse's path, there were only two injuries, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.

One person was transported to the hospital by ambulance for an injury to the ankle or Achilles tendon.

Police said a vehicle was also damaged.

Police said they don't know what spooked the horse.

Deputy Chief Julian Bernal said police are in talks with organizers to find a way to prevent future incidents.

Bernal said there appeared to be more horses at the parade than in years past.
