The Hidalgo county sheriff's department is investigating a home invasion that left the homeowner wounded.
Officials say it happened around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday at a trailer home on Joshua street near Palmview. Jose Alaniz told investigators a man knocked on the rear door of his home claiming to be the police. Alaniz opened the door and saw a man armed with guns in both hands. He tried to shut the door on the man and that's when the suspect fired his gun hitting Alaniz on his right hand. The suspect retreated and left in a truck with a female driver. Alaniz drove himself to a local hospital where he was treated and released.
