Homeowner Helps in Putting Out Flames
Edinburg firefighters battled a house fire on Tuesday after the homeowner asked neighbors to call 911.
Ricardo Abrego Jr. was home alone getting ready to take a shower when he heard a loud boom and the sound of glass shattering. When he opened the bathroom door he say blooms of smoke and checked the rooms to make sure no family members were trapped. He did also search for the family pet and opened the back door for the pet to escape the fire.
Abrego's quick thinking helped in preventing more damage to the house and did put out some of the flames with a water hose until firefighters arrived. The Edinburg Fire Department was able to put out the remaining flames and say the family pet from smoke inhalation in time.
