Drugs are believed to be the reason for a home invasion in Weslaco Wednesday night.

It happened on the 2000 block of Mesquite Drive.  The intruders wore masks and entered with handguns. Sheriff's deputies found a bundle of marijuana inside the home.

Investigators continued talking to neighbors on Thursday morning.

"What we know is that several armed suspects entered the home, demanded drugs and money from the individuals from the home," JP Rodriguez of the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office said. "One of the victims did suffer a gunshot wound, the other victim sustained minor injuries. The victim with a  gunshot wound was transported to a local hospital."

Anybody with information on this home invasion is urged to call Hidalgo County Crimestoppers at 668-8477.
