Home Destroyed in House Fire

A two story home is engulfed in flames early Thursday morning in McAllen.

Fire crews rushed to the scene, but were unable to save the house from extensive damage. The second floor of the house receiving the majority of the fire damage. Crews from McAllen and Edinburg arrived at the home on 617 West Northgate around 5:30 in the morning.

Family members were able to scramble out of the home when the fire started. After several hours, fire crews remained at the scene putting out hot spots and questioning the family. One person who was inside the home told fire officials he heard a loud snapping sound before burst into flames.

Fire Chief Rubio mentioned there were no injuries reported and they will go back to the home to try to determine what sparked the flames.
