Teen rushes to help elderly mugging victim.
Police are looking for a suspect who stalked and attacked an 85-year-old man in a Mercer Island, Washington school parking lot.
The victim is thanking a student who chased the suspect off.
The attack happened Tuesday afternoon.
Police believe the motive was robbery and released surveillance video of the attack.
85-year-old Sheldon Steinberg was sitting his car at the parking lot of Northwest Yeshiva High School, waiting to pick up his two adopted daughters.
He says the suspect walked up and knocked on his window.
"He pointed to the car and said the car's license plate was loose," says Steinberg, "which was obviously intended to get me out of the car."
Once the man had Steinberg out of the car, he started pulling him to the ground.
"Before I know it, just grabs me and takes me down," says Steinberg. "Doesn't' take much to take me down either."
Not only was a surveillance camera rolling, but class had just let out.
The first to see the suspect running off was 18-year-old Joshua Voss.
"We saw a man pointing to the fence, and said 'this man just fell! Call 911!'" says Voss.
He ran to Steinberg who was bleeding lying on the ground.
"He had blood on his face. It was kind of a scary sight. And that's when he said 'that man just attacked me.'"
The 85-year-old credits the 18-year-old for scaring the suspect away and running after him long enough to get a good look at him.
Mercer Island police say they've identified a person of interest in the case, a convicted felon who is wanted on several warrants.
