Beach goers take note, Boca Chica beach has high levels of bacteria in the water which may cause illness to swimmers.

Cameron county officials posted signs and are informing the public to avoid entering the water. The fish are safe to eat, but officials are asking fishermen not to enter the water. A county official says the high bacteria count in the water is likely due to water runoff from Tropical Storm Hermine.
