The Hidalgo county sheriff's department is on the search for a man who had nearly 1,000 pounds of cocaine inside his tractor trailer.

Authorities say the man left the trailer and 30 bricks of cocaine behind after getting pulled over on Sunday morning on Jackson road in Edinburg. He fled when the deputy went back to his unit to run the driver's information. After conducting a search on the trailer, deputies found 83 pounds of cocaine within the cartons of produce. There is no information on the driver since he gave a false name. Anybody with information on the driver or trailer is asked to call police at 956.668.TIPS.
