Hidalgo County to Open Two Water Wells

Tuesday, September 25, 2012 - 8:48am

Because of limited rainfall in the Valley the Hidalgo County Water Improvement District will begin using two water wells that date back to the late 1940's. It;s cheaper for them to use an existing built well rather than building a new one and they are receiving a federal grant to help pay for the new water supply. One of the wells should be up and running by the end of the month and the other by the end of the year. The water district plans to test up to eight more wells to see if they can be used in the future.
