Hidalgo County officials announced on Thursday they are implementing a 60 day amnesty program for those who owe outstanding fines or have not paid traffic violations.

The purpose of the amnesty program is to encourage residents to resolve their offenses before the state wide warrant round up begins on March 2nd.

After that date, anyone who has not taken care of citations or fines could face jail time.
