Hidalgo County authorities identify suspect killed in home invasion case

HIDALGO COUNTY, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department have identified the suspect killed in a home invasion case.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 28th at around 7:30 p.m. on Whalen Road where six to seven armed and masked men raided a home searching for drugs and money.
Two of the intruders then moved to a second house, located in the back of the property, and that's where officials say one of the residents fought back shooting the two, killing one and severely injuring a second.
Investigators identified the suspect that was killed as Fernando Dominquez, 19, from Cameron County and the injured suspect as Rodolfo Garcia, 19, who is being treated at a San Antonio hospital and listed in stable condition.
Deputies have issued an arrest warrant for Rodolfo Garcia who will be served with the warrant once he regains consciousness.
Authorities have released a portion of the 911 recording during the home invasion. The investigation continues to get further leads in identifying the other suspects involved in this crime.
