HIDALGO COUNTY, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — If you haven't paid your Hidalgo County property taxes, you don't have much time left.
Beginning July 1, the county will charge an extra 15-20 percent if you're late. This is a normal fee charged every year.
County officials want to get the word out. And let residents know there are payment options available.
"What I try to do is, I try to advise them, you still have a chance if you haven't paid your current year, please come by and pay your taxes," said Hidalgo County Tax Assessor-Collector Paul Villareal. "If you don't have the full amount, you can make a payment. Apply what you can to the 2012."
You can pay either by mail, online or visiting of the county's six locations.
