EDINBURG - It's become a highlight of the Valley's yearly academic calendar as the annual Hispanic Engineering, Science and Technology week at the University of Pam American in Edinburg.

The event is in it's 10th year and it brings students, educators, corporations and entrepreneurs to discuss cutting edge developments and opportunities in science and technology. UTPA Events Coordinator Karen Dorado stated, "In order for us to keep up with the growing population it's very important for our students to have the resources available to them so that they can in fact become the next generation of scientists, engineers, mathematicians and astronauts."

The event continues throughout the week and includes a visit from former NASA astronaut Jose Hernandez and will be capped off with a Saturday performance by country music star Clay Walker.
