Nearly two-thousand pounds of turkey, two-thousand pounds of mashed potatoes, 15-hundred pounds of veggies and stuffing, 180 gallons of piping hot gravy and of course you can't forget the pumpkin pies, all 1-thousand of them.

HEB’s Feast of Sharing is an annual event meant to bring a good meal to nearly 40-thousand people in several cities throughout the upper and lower valley.

Here in Brownsville, it's expected that slightly over 10-thousand people will grub down on the turkey and dressing dinner in just a four hour period. Officials say they can whip out 25-hundred meals in one hour.

The people dining are from all walks of life, one little girl waiting in line tells News Center 23 her favorite part is not the pie, but the...“turkey". said the four year old.

Unfortunately, for some of these people, if not for this meal, many would have no Thanksgiving celebration at all.

"We've actually heard that from a few of our customers who say that this is the only meal, so it's very important to make it a nice meal, provide them entertainment and make the whole experience a wonderful experience for them." said Robert Palomino, HEB Director of Operations.

Aside from a good meal, many diners described the dinner as an overall good time.

"It's very good and the dance, it's very, very divertido (fun), muy divertido (very fun)." said a woman who attended the Feast of Sharing Dinner.

Now if you missed Wednesday's feast, there will be another dinner served Friday in Harlingen at the community center from 11am to three.
