Conjunctivitis or Pink Eye, as it's more commonly known is an irritation for people of all ages, but how do you know if your pink, itchy eyes are something to see a doctor about? Kay Quinn has the story.

Not all Pink Eye is infectious, so how do you know if you have true conjunctivitis? If your eye is itching or if you have discharge, or if you have other cold like symptoms, these are all questions your doctor will ask to help with diagnosis. Conjunctivitis alone should not keep your child out of school, but the illnesses associated with it should. It's actually a myth that rubbing the eye can spread the infection more quickly, but doctors still advise against it.

One of the best ways to fight Pink Eye? The same way you'd fight a cold, by washing your hands. Symptoms of true Pink Eye often get worse during the first few days and may take weeks to clear.
