Knowing the most successful way to quit smoking is essential for people trying to kick the habit and now a study may provide the answer.
Researchers at the University of Wisconsin enrolled 1,500 smokers who wanted to quit in a new study. Participants were divided into 6 treatment groups varying between nicotine lozenges or patches alone or combined, or the anti-smoking drug Wellbutrin. They measured their quitting success at one week, eight weeks and six months. They found those who used the nicotine lozenges and nicotine patch were two times more likely to quit than those who tried cold turkey.
