A new report shows just how deadly obesity can be and a review of studies on nearly 900,000 people finds severe obesity cuts an average of 8 to 10 years off of a person's life is comparable to the effects of smoking.
Body mass index is generally considered a good measurement of obesity because it measures weight relative to height. A body mass index of over 30 is considered obese and the best way to avoid obesity is to be active. Walking, running or even practicing your favorite sport helps to fight off obesity.
