New Technology in Screening of Colorectal Cancer

While the colonoscopy is still the golden standard for colorectal cancer screening, a less invasive test is gaining attention.

It's called CT Colonography, which uses scans of the colon to detect cancerous lesion. This is certainly less invasive than guiding cameras through the colon. If a lesion is detected, though, the patient would need a traditional colonoscopy. A new study of CT Colonography included nearly 1,000 patients who had an increased risk for colorectal cancer.
