A majority of people who are depressed are not getting the treatment they need.

Researchers at UCLA surveyed over 15,000 adults and found nearly 80% of those diagnosed with depression did not receive treatment that met the standard of care. Half of participants didn't receive any treatment at all and of those who were treated underwent counseling without medication and one third of the patients were prescribed an anti-depressant. The study also found Mexican and African Americans were significantly less likely to undergo treatment for depression.
