Health officials say we're in uncharted territory this flu season considering the bug never went away.
Experts say some areas of the country are experiencing flu activity at levels normally seen during the peak of the season because of H1N1. While that virus has been getting lots of attention the country's leading health officials say seasonal flu is just as important. They met to encourage Americans to get their regular flu shot which is recommended for anyone over the age of 50, all children 6 months to 18 years of age, pregnant women, people with chronic health conditions, infant caretakers and health care workers.
Experts emphasize the seasonal flu vaccine will not protect against H1N1, a separate shot is needed for that virus. The regular flu shot is available now and the H1N1 vaccine will be ready in mid-October.
