The H1N1 flu shots are here, but only those who are considered high risk can get the limited supply we have so far.
Director of the Texas Department of State Health Services, Dr. Brian Smith, says 1 million doses of the H1N1 flu vaccine have been ordered for the entire state. Although that sounds like a lot, he tells us that only covers 4% of the total population in Texas. Only those who are considered high risk such as pregnant women, health care workers, children under the age of 5 and children with special medical needs will be vaccinated.
For the mean time, health officials suggest you protect yourself by practicing good hygiene, wash your hands frequently and get the regular flu shot.
