Health conference discusses contemporary issue on both sides of the border
McAllen, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — At the 3rd annual HIDA-REY Public Health Conference, which was held on Wednesday, where health officials from both sides of the border gathered to discuss contemporary issues affecting patients.
It' all part of an effort to not get caught flat footed in the event of an outbreak as Hidalgo County HHS Eddie Olivarez stated, Our borders are so fluid, it's very easy that any medical complications, public health complications that occur on either side of the border affect the opposite side. So for us it's important that we're always aware of situations that are going on in Mexico, especially along the border."
The event lasted all day and also addressed cultural differences and health stigmas between the countries.
