On last night's vote, the GOP claims victory.
The gloves are off.
California Representative George Miller said, "Faster than Superman, health care costs have gone up because of the bureaucracies!!"
California Representative Ed Royce said, "Repeal this $2 trillion fiscal train wreck."
The final vote: 245 to 189. Three Democrats joined Republicans saying "no" to President Obama's health plan.
Indiana Representative Mike Pence said, "When you order every American to buy health insurance whether they want it or need it or not, that's a government takeover of health care."
Florida Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz said, "The last thing that we should be doing today or any day is making a decision and casting a vote to put insurance companies back in the driver's seat."
In the Senate, Democrats are still in the driver's seat, which means the effort to repeal will probably fail there. But both sides agree…this vote counts.
Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann said, "This is not symbolic! This is why we were sent here and we will not stop until we repeal."
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said, "It isn't symbolic to the 149 million Americans with health conditions who now are locked out or priced out of the market."
Next: the new Republican health plan. Lawmakers start working on it today.
House Speaker John Boehner said, "We expect them to act in an efficient way."
No word yet on how long that will take.
