Tucson continues to mourn; President Obama set to visit the city.
Just hours from now the University of Arizona's McKale Center will fill with mourners.
President Obama will speak at a public memorial for the Tucson shooting victims there this evening.
Meanwhile, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has expressed her sympathy for the victims of the Tucson tragedy and lashed out at speculation over the gunman's motives.
"Within hours of a tragedy unfolding, journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible," Palin said.
At the hospital the focus is on healing and hope.
Congresswoman Giffords' office has released photos of her husband at her bedside.
"He's doing everything he needs to be doing, you know he hasn't gotten much sleep, but he's with her and coordinating everything that needs to be done," said Giffords' Chief of Staff Pia Carusone.
Doctors say Giffords' now has a "101% chance of survival".
