The Department of Homeland Security and Border Patrol honored more than a dozen students in their Head of the Class program on Friday.

The students are nominated by teachers or counselors at their school and many are overachievers in more than just their textbooks. Some are migrants who help their parents by working up north and many are involved in extracurricular activities. The nominated students are then chosen and only one student per school can become head of the class.

Each student receives a certificate signed by the Chief with the Department of Homeland Security and get tokens of appreciation at the event.
