Dozens of firefighters were conducting a hazmat drill at the plant located on 2501 West Expressway 83. Officials said.the drill focused on emergency response to contaminated areas working the prevention of spreading.

"We know that this facility here provides our water supply to our citizens in McAllen and we want to make sure that everyone is trained to handle a scenario like this," said Rene Alaniz of McAllen Fire Department.

The Hazmat team was there to conduct radiation levels in the public water . Firefighter protection was needed because of the danger of the Alpha and Beta particles. Current test on July 4,2011 in Houston showed there was an extreme increase in Radiation in the Texas Public Water system. That means that SOuth Texas is also very prone to having the same outcome as Houston and every other body of water in the world.I hope The public is notified of the finding of the test they conducted.youshouldtoo
