Harwell Shooting Victims Continue Recovery
EDINBURG - It's been more than three weeks since the Harwell middle school shooting that injured both students, Edson Amaro and Nicholas Tijerina, who are still recovering.
A medical spokesperson form Rio Grande Regional says that over the Holidays, Amaro was well enough to be sent home from the hospital. As for Tijerina, his mother says he had bile fluid leaking from his liver directly to his lungs causing him pain and hard to breath. There are only three surgeons locally who can perform surgery on him and all three were out of town at the time. The Texas Children's Hospital airlifted him to their trauma center and place a line between his lungs and liver to stop the fluids and surgery is still being contemplated.
