Harlingen City Manager Carlos R. Yerena says Police Chief Daniel Castillo submitted his letter of resignation on Monday evening.

Yerena says the Chief's resignation was voluntary and Castillo will remain Police Chief until his replacement is found. Castillo's resignation will effective the second week of February.
